Flowers have formed part of our diet for thousands of years. Chinese cooks were experimenting with edible flowers as far back at 3,000 B.C.E. and the Romans used violets and roses in their food as well as lavender in sauces. The practice is still going strong today, with many restaurants using flowers and petals to add a unique flavour and appearance to desserts, savoury dishes and cocktails they're also on trend as decoration for Celebration, Wedding and Cup Cakes. Using Edible Flowers - Important Advice

Allergies - Edible flowers are not recommended for those with severe food or pollen allergies. Some flowers may need the stamens and styles to be removed because the pollen can cause allergic reactions. For the smaller flowers (violas, pansies, honeysuckle, and clover) you do not need to do this.
